Two Dead and Four Hospitalized after Multi-Vehicle Collision near Beach Boulevard
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (August 11, 2018) – Two people were killed early Saturday morning and four others were hospitalized, following a fiery crash on 405 Freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened shortly after 4:00 AM near Beach Boulevard. A black Honda was traveling at a high speed when it collided with a white Dodge pickup truck. When the Honda came to a stop, a third vehicle hit it head-on and two other motorists became involved. One of the five vehicles erupted in flames after its occupants escaped.
Two people were pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining fatal injuries. Their identities and cities of residence were not immediately released. Four others, including the Honda driver, were transported to hospitals after sustaining minor to major injuries. There is no update on their current medical condition.
Investigators believe that the Honda driver was impaired at the time of the crash. CHP officials later announced that an arrest was made, but it was unclear what charges the suspect may face. No additional details have been provided to the public.
