2 Dead, 2 Hurt following 2-Vehicle Collision in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 3, 2019) – Two people died and two others sustained injuries after a pickup truck hit a stalled car on the 10 Freeway, early Thursday morning.
Officials said the collision occurred near the Washington Boulevard off-ramp around 4:20 a.m. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after, near Hauser Boulevard.
According to reports, a speeding pickup truck rear-ended a stalled Nissan Altima in the No. 3 lane. The impact consequently caused the pickup truck to overturn onto its side. The Nissan was found severely mangled as a result.
Authorities also say one occupant was ejected out of the vehicle due to the impact of the collision. Furthermore, two people were found inside suffering from life-threatening injuries. A man and a woman, both in their 40’s, were later pronounced dead on scene.
The 46-year-old driver of the pickup truck was rushed to a nearby hospital. There has been no update on the driver’s current condition.
The crash brought westbound traffic on the highway to a standstill. Firefighters and CHP officers worked to clear the scene with only one lane open until about 8:00 a.m. The cause of the crash is still currently under investigation.
Our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the victims. May they rest in peace.
