Crash on Sanderson Avenue in San Jacinto Kills 2 Children
SAN JACINTO, CA (July 12, 2019) – Two juveniles were killed following a car accident Friday morning in San Jacinto, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.
The crash happened around 8:40 a.m. on Sanderson Avenue, just north of Cottonwood Avenue. A burgundy Scion coupe carrying four people, a woman and her three children, was traveling northbound on Sanderson Avenue when it veered to the right and crashed into a drainage culvert. The impact caused major damage to the vehicle.
All four occupants suffered serious injuries. Paramedics transported them to Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley.
Despite life-saving efforts, one of the children succumbed to their injuries Friday. A second child was also pronounced dead early Saturday evening.
Officials have not provided any updates on the driver of the car or the third child.
The victims’ ages and identities were not immediately available.
Alcohol and or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash, which remains under investigation.
