Woman Critical after Niles Street Two-Vehicle Crash
Bakersfield, CA (May 28, 2020)– On Thursday afternoon, two unidentified people sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Niles Street and Owens Street.
The crash occurred at around 2:30 p.m. on May 28. Dispatched officers arrived and located two sprawled vehicles on the scene.
Reportedly, a Chevrolet pick-up truck heading southbound on Owens Street and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Niles Street.
The pick-up then collided with a Nissan Sentra traveling westbound on Niles Street.
As a result, the woman driving the Nissan and her adult male passenger sustained moderate to major injuries. Both taken to a local hospital for immediate treatment. Meanwhile, the man driving the pick-up remained uninjured.
Moreover, in an update on Thursday at 5 p.m., BPD said the male passenger was in stable condition, but the woman was in critical condition.
BPD confirmed alcohol, drugs, and speed were in fact factors in this collision.
