2 Hurt in San Diego Collision
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 30, 2019) – Two people sustained injuries in a big rig and truck collision on 5 Freeway on August 27.
According to reports, a loaded big rig hit another large truck parked on the right shoulder of 5 Freeway. The truck then went off the highway, struck a tree and caught fire.
The incident happened around 10:40 a.m. on southbound 5 Freeway, just north of Harbor Drive. CHP Officer Mark Latulippe said that some concerned citizens put off the fire.
The drivers of both vehicles sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, authorities issued a SigAlert and shit down two of four southbound lanes.
“We’re dealing with a lot of weight,” Latulippe stated. He added that he expects crews to be out there for “a while.”
Driving can be very dangerous and almost anything can happen if you are not prepared. It is important to always drive within the posted speed limit. Slow down if you see traffic stalling ahead to avoid hitting other vehicles.
