Two Teenagers Hospitalized after Crash on Interstate 82 in Union Gap
Union Gap, WA (September 3, 2021) – Friday afternoon, two 16-year-old boys from Granger sustained injuries after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 82.
The crash in Union Gap happened at around 2:40 p.m. on September 3.
The Washington State Patrol said the teenage driver was head east on I-82 (M.P. 39); roughly two miles south of Union Gap at the time of the accident.
WSP Troopers then later determined that the rear right tire of the car blew out on the highway, causing the driver to lose control of his 1998 Honda hatchback and rolled into the median.
Two of three occupants including the driver sustained injuries and then transported to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. One person remained uninjured.
Moreover, WSP Troopers said impairment did not play a factor in this accident but rather determined as “Defective Equipment”.
Further, all three men wore seatbelts at the time of the accident.
