Two Men Riding Non-Motorized Scooters Hit by Vehicle near Cottonwood Avenue
HESPERIA, CA (July 29, 2018) – Two men were hospitalized Sunday evening following a scooter crash on Mauna Loa Street near Cottonwood Avenue.
As per reports, the collision happened shortly before 10:00 PM in the 15000 block of Mauna Loa Street. A 1998 Toyota Camry was traveling westbound when it struck two people riding non-motorized scooters.
One of the victims was thrown into the air and landed on the windshield of the vehicle, while the other man was knocked to the curb. Emergency crews rushed one of the males to a nearby hospital after he sustained a head injury. The other victim was airlifted to a medical center also for a head injury. Their identities and cities of residence were not immediately available.
Investigators noted that the area surrounding the scene of the accident was not well-lit. It was also confirmed that the victims were not wearing reflective vests or reflective gear at the time of the incident.
No additional information has been released to the public at this time, as officials continue to investigate.
