Injuries Reported in Modesto Pedestrian Accident near West Orangeburg and Martin Avenue
MODESTO, CA (September 14, 2021) – On Monday, two people sustained injuries in a pedestrian crash near West Orangeburg and Martin Avenue.
According to Modesto PD spokesperson Sharon Bear, the incident happened near West Orangeburg and Martin Avenue.
Reports revealed that a car struck a woman and her 8-year-old female grandchild. The crash happened as the woman and child crossed the road in a marked crosswalk. Then, the 54-year-old grandmother managed to push her young male grandchild out of the way. Then, the vehicle hit her and her female grandchild.
Furthermore, responders rushed the young patient to a children’s hospital via helicopter with critical injuries. Meanwhile, the grandmother suffered moderate injuries in the crash.
Moreover, the driver involved in the crash remained at the scene to cooperate with the authorities. Officials do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
Meanwhile, the incident closed east Orangeburg Avenue between Motel 6 and Grape Avenue.
