Multiple People Hospitalized after Pedestrian Crash near Terminal 5
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 21, 2018) – Three people were hospitalized late Thursday morning following a pedestrian collision at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The collision happened shortly before 11:00 AM near Terminal 5 of the airport, on the lower arrival level. An elderly woman reportedly veered off the roadway and hit two pedestrians. Investigators suspect that the collision was a result of a possible medical condition.
The two unidentified pedestrians were transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. The elderly driver was also sent to a nearby hospital, but it was unknown if she was injured in the crash. On Thursday afternoon, parties involved were declared to be in stable condition by the medical staff.
Areas affected by the incident were temporarily shut down for about an hour, as officials investigated and crews cleared the scene. The inner lanes in front of Terminal 5 were later reopened shortly after noon. No further details have been released to the public at this time.
