Diego Alberto Davila-Martinez Arrested after Hit-and-Run Collision near Oak Street

SAN JOSE, CA (June 28, 2018) – Two people were injured and several cars were damaged early Thursday morning, following a multi-vehicle crash on Vine Street.

The crash was reported shortly before 1:00 AM in the 900 block of Vine Street, between Oak Street and Edwards Avenue. A pickup truck, driven by 18-year-old Diego Alberto Davila-Martinez of San Jose, allegedly rear-ended a black Lexus and continued to travel along the street into the front yard of a nearby home.

At least six vehicles were reportedly damaged in the aftermath of the crash.

The driver of the black Lexus had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. He is expected to survive and recover soon.

Police found Davila-Martinez and one of his passengers nearby after they fled the scene on foot, while the third occupant ran away from the site. Davila-Martinez was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and was booked into the Santa Clara County jail. His passenger reportedly sustained similar injuries as the Lexus driver and was also hospitalized.

Investigators do not believe that alcohol and drugs were contributing factors in the collision. No additional information has been released to the public.

It is important to always look out for other vehicles, motorcyclists, and pedestrians on the road. By driving carefully and abiding by all driving laws, dangerous accidents can be prevented. Do not get behind the wheel of a car if you find yourself physically, emotionally, or mentally unfit to drive.
