Two Hurt in Boron Multi-Car Crash
BORON, CA (January 25, 2019) — Two people were hurt when a tractor-trailer collided into multiple vehicles on Highway 58 on Monday, January 21.
The crash occurred at around 12:45 pm, when a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia towing a trailer was moving eastbound on Highway 58, just west of Mile Marker 12.
CHP Officer Jacob Wheeler said that the Freightliner was drawing close to a 2017 Ford F-250 towing a horse trailer and 2018 Cadillac XTS moving behind the Ford.
The driver of the Freightliner, a 42-year-old male from Rancho Cordova, CA allowed his vehicle to move into the westbound lane causing the driver side of the Freightliner to crash into the driver side of the Ford and horse trailer, according to Wheeler.
After the first impact, the Freightliner lost control and continued into the track of the Cadillac. The front of the Freightliner slammed into the front of the Cadillac causing the driver and passenger to sustain injuries.
The 52-year-old male driver from Lancaster suffered major injuries and was airlifted from the crash site to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. The passenger, a 69-year-old woman, had moderate injuries and was also brought to ARMC.
The driver of the Ford and Freightliner were not harmed.
CHP officials stated drugs or alcohol were not believed to be a factor and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
