2 Hurt and 1 Detained after Bakersfield Car Accident
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 10, 2020) – On Sunday, two people sustained injuries while 21-year-old Keven Aranda faced charges for Felony DUI, on Myrtle Street.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight near 24th Street. Dispatchers arrived in the 2300 block of Myrtle Street.
According to crews on scene, the driver managed to exit the pickup-truck after it caught fire. However, the two passengers were trapped inside.
Police officers freed the two passengers while fire crews extinguished the flames. As a result of the impact, the two passengers sustained moderate injuries and were taken to local hospitals for further treatment. Both victims are now in stable condition.
Meanwhile, the preliminary investigation from the Bakersfield Police revealed that Aranda was driving east on 24th Street when he veered off the road and struck a roadway barrier near Myrtle Street.
Aranda reportedly stayed at the scene and was later proven to be intoxicated. The Kern County Jail took him into custody for Felony DUI causing injury.
