Hemet T-Bone Collision on Florida Avenue and Promenade Drive
HEMET, CA (July 14, 2019) – Two people sustained injuries in a broadside crash Sunday morning in Hemet.
The crash happened around 10:35 a.m. at Florida Avenue and Promenade Drive. According to the CHP, a white Kia Soul left Hemet’s Winco parking lot onto Florida Avenue with a green light. After that, a yellow Toyota FJ Cruiser broadsided the Kia that ran a red light.
As a result, the Cruiser lost control, jumped the raised center median and spun into the oncoming lanes of traffic.
Hemet police and firefighters arrived soon after and found a heavily damaged Kia, blocking the westbound lanes of traffic. The Cruiser came to rest some distance away with moderate front-end damage.
Paramedics treated the injured couple from the Kia before transporting them to Hemet Valley Hospital for further evaluation.
Paramedics evaluated the driver and passenger of the Cruiser at the scene but they declined further medical treatment.
Alcohol or drug intoxication were not being ruled out as factors in the crash. It is also unknown if charges has been filed and liability has not yet been determined.
Further investigation of this crash is underway.
Most intersections have traffic signals to prevent confusion among drivers. Because these lights were placed to avoid accidents, always make sure to follow them and check both directions twice before crossing to the other side. Follow traffic signals and look out for speeding vehicles.
