Driver Flees after Two-Vehicle Collision near Bear Valley Road
VICTORVILLE, CA (September 9, 2018) – Two people were injured Sunday evening following a hit-and-run crash on Monte Vista Road. The identities of the victims were not immediately released to the public.
According to Victorville Police officials, the incident happened at about 9:30 PM. A 2012 Hyundai Accent was heading west on Bear Valley Road when it struck the driver side of a southbound 2015 Nissan Versa.
The driver of the Hyundai fled the scene on foot, leaving his injured female passenger inside the wrecked vehicle. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and medical evaluation. A man inside the Nissan was also hospitalized with unspecified injuries. There is no update on either person’s medical condition.
Witnesses claimed that the woman driving the Nissan had entered the intersection and may have realized that the pavement ended. The vehicle stopped in the middle of the road, where it was t-boned by the Hyundai. It was also noted that a stop sign was not available near Bear Valley Road.
An investigation is ongoing to verify the witnesses’ claims and to identify possible contributing factors. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
