2 Teens Injured in Fallbrook Multi-Vehicle Crash
FALLBROOK, CA (May 13, 2019) – Two teens sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle collision in Fallbrook Friday. Officials said the incident started out as a pursuit for a hit-and-run driver at around 9:40 a.m.
CHP Officer Mark Latulippe said a brown SUV believed to be a GMC Envoy and a Ford Mustang collided on southbound South Mission Road at Stage Coach Lane, just west of Fallbrook High School. The Mustang then chased the SUV. Both vehicles turned around and continued north on South Mission Road.
The chase ended when a Honda CRV hit the Mustang while westbound on Stage Coach with a green light. The Mustang struck a couple more vehicles – a Toyota Tundra and a Volvo V60 – after colliding with the CRV.
Meanwhile, the SUV involved in the initial crash continued north on South Mission Road. It was last seen near Rocky Crest Road.
The 19-year-old driver of the Mustang from Fallbrook suffered major injuries and was taken to Palomar Medical Center. The driver was listed in critical condition Friday night.
Taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital with minor injuries was the 19-year-old female passenger of the Mustang. The drivers and passengers in the other cars involved had complaints of pain. There were no reports of other injuries.
The crash caused the shutdown of the intersection of South Mission Road and Stage Coach Lane for about an hour-and-a-half.
It is important to follow all driving laws and the conditions of the road when you are driving. Keep your distance if you see any vehicle that looks dangerous. If you see a car weaving in and out of the lanes, following too closely, or traveling at a higher rate of speed, move over a few lanes and get out of their way. By driving in a safe in a legal manner, you can help prevent accidents. These may have devastating consequences for you and for others.
