Man Arrested after San Diego Solo DUI Rollover Accident
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 25, 2019) – Two people sustained injuries following an alleged DUI rollover crash on Monday, April 22.
San Diego Police Officer John Buttle said that the accident happened just before 7:10 p.m. on the frontage road off South 54th Street just south of Laurel Street.
One of the 22-year-old men drove a 2005 Chrysler sedan southbound on the road. However, when he reached the end of a cul-de-sac, he drove over the curb. It caused the car to collide to two palm tree stumps. After that, the vehicle continued through a fenced yard, Buttle said. The car then rolled over twice and came to a stop on its wheels in the southbound lanes of 54th Street.
The 22-year-old man in the front passenger seat sustained a major brain bleed and swelling. He also lost three fingers when his right hand was crushed, according to Buttle.
The driver also suffered a fractured pelvis. Officers arrested him on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.
Always assure you drive safely and cautiously. Never get behind the wheel when you are under the influence of any type of substance. If you see a drunk driver on the road, keep your distance from the vehicle and report it to police if it is safe to do so. Doing so can prevent yourself and others from being in an accident.
