2 Injured in DUI Car Accident on 5 Freeway [Encinitas, CA]

2 Hospitalized after DUI Crash in Encinitas

 
ENCINITAS, CA (January 19, 2019) – On Saturday morning around 2:50 AM, two people were injured in a DUI car accident on 5 Freeway near Manchester Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Volkswagen Passat slammed into an occupied Honda Civic stopped on the shoulder lane. No other motorist were involved in the crash.
 
Encinitas Fire Department treated two occupants who suffered major injuries, from the Civic on scene before transporting them to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. The victims current medical condition is unclear at this time.
 
Authorities arrested the driver of the Passat for DUI causing injuries. No further details have been disclosed to the public, as the investigation continues.
