Injuries Reported in Berkeley Bicycle Accident on University Avenue and Grant Street
BERKELEY, CA (August 1, 2022) – Sunday afternoon, two people sustained injuries in a bicycle crash on University Avenue and Grant Street.
Officers confirmed that the crash occurred just after 1:00 p.m. on eastbound University Avenue, east of Grant Street.
The incident occurred when a driver of a silver Mercedes-Benz GL 450 SUV crashed with a bicyclist. According to reports, the cyclist was involved in a group bike ride through Berkeley.
Officers revealed that a 69-year-old man from Pinole drove an SUV. Then, it turned over on its side during the collision. Afterward, the crash briefly trapped the driver but he managed to extricate himself.
Meanwhile, the officers described the cyclist as a 27-year-old man from Suisun City.

Then, responders took one of the injured men to Highland Hospital, the regional trauma center. Also, they transported the other to Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley.
Moreover, officers noted that the patients sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Their injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening, police said.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
Furthermore, they do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
