NEWHALL, CA (October 18, 2022) – Monday night, two people suffered injuries in a big rig crash on 5 Freeway and Lyons Avenue in Newhall.
 
The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. in the middle of the northbound 5 Freeway, south of Lyons Avenue. According to reports, a vehicle rear-ended a big rig.
 
“It came in as a person trapped call but nobody was trapped,” revealed Supervisor Ed Pickett with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
 
Meanwhile, the CHP said that a singular Honda Accord vehicle lost control and struck the back of a big rig. Then, it got stuck underneath.
 
“There were multiple vehicles involved including a single vehicle into a center divider,” added Pickett.
 
Also, the crash shut down the inner lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway.
 
Furthermore, responders took two patients to the hospital.
