Motorcyclist and Bicyclist Hospitalized in Accident at Sunset Cliffs Boulevard
MARYSVILLE, CA (June 22, 2018) – Two riders were injured in a bicycle-motorcycle crash on Nimitz Boulevard, early Friday morning.
The crash occurred around 3:50 AM, just west of where the westbound 8 Freeway ends and the eastbound 8 Freeway starts. According to police officials, the bicyclist was traveling from the west to the east and crossed Nimitz Boulevard when he was struck by the motorcyclist.
The unidentified bicyclist suffered a broken nose, broken jaw, and cuts to his face. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. The 51-year-old motorcyclist sustained minor injuries and was also rushed to the hospital. There is no update on the current medical conditions of either person.
Police shut down the intersection while doctors determined if either of the victims was seriously injured. As of 8:45 AM, one lane in the area remained closed off to traffic, but there was at least one lane open in all directions. No additional information has been shared with the public, while the investigation continues with the department’s traffic division.
