16-Year-Old Bicyclist Injured in Crash at 3700 College Boulevard
CARLSBAD, CA (June 25, 2018) – Two people were hospitalized after a bicycle and car collision on College Boulevard, Monday morning.
The Carlsbad Police Department reported that the crash occurred on College Boulevard south of Lake Boulevard shortly after 11:00 AM. A 64-year-old man was driving a 2011 Lexus southbound on College Boulevard when he allegedly suffered a debilitating medical emergency, causing him to lose control of his car.
The vehicle then struck a 16-year-old cyclist, who was in the bike lane, and then struck an electrical box.
Medics transported the 64-year-old motorist and the teen to a hospital, and the 16-year-old was also brought to a hospital for treatment. Their names and medical conditions were not immediately released. The teen bicyclist’s injuries were described as superficial.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered to be factors in this incident.
