Calexico, CA (December 26, 2024) On Monday afternoon, a 42-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman were hurt and hospitalized after a disastrous traffic crash on Andrea Avenue.

According to the Calexico Police Department (CPD), the pedestrian crash happened at about 5:35 p.m. at the intersection with Santa Fe Drive.

Reports say that a 71-year-old driver struck two pedestrians as the pedestrians crossed the street.

Emergency responders transported the injured pedestrians to medical facilities. One victim was flown by REACH Air Ambulance to an out-of-Valley hospital, while the other was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center. The driver remained unharmed.

Calexico Police are investigating the accident but confirmed that impairment was not a factor.
