2 Injured in Los Angeles Multi-Vehicle Accident
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 12, 2019) – Two people were taken to a hospital, one with major injuries, after a three-vehicle collision that left an overturned big rig on February 11.
The incident occurred just after 5:40 a.m. east of Hayvenhurst Avenue. According to the CHP, it was about 6:00 a.m. when they shut down 118 Freeway near Woodley Avenue.
They also said that the freeway would be unavailable for an hour. However, just after 7:11 a.m., the CHP announced that the lanes would be blocked for four more hours.
Meanwhile, the No. 5 lane was reopened at 9:30 a.m. while crews move the rig upright before towing it away from the area. The SigAlert was again prolonged before 11:00 a.m. for the HOV and Nos. 1 to 4 lanes for another hour and a half.
At 12:13 p.m., the big rig was finally turned upright. After half an hour later, all the lanes were reopened.
The cause of the collision was still unreleased by the authorities.
