Two People Injured in Rollover Accident near Tepusquet Road
SANTA MARIA, CA (June 3, 2018) – Two people were seriously injured in an SUV Crash on Highway 166, late Sunday night.
The single-vehicle accident occurred at around 10:20 PM on Highway 166 east of Santa Maria and Tepusquet Road, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. The vehicle was an SUV that had two occupants inside of it.
The SUV overturned down a hillside, and ended up about 100 from the roadway. California Highway Patrol, city fire personnel, and US Forest Service assisted county firefighters in responding to the collision. The occupants of the SUV needed to be rescued through extrication, and were brought up to the roadway using a low-angle rope system.
One patient sustained major injuries and was transported by a Calstar helicopter to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The other person sustained moderate injuries and was rushed to the Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria by an AMR ambulance. Their names and the status of their conditions were not immediately announced.
No additional information was released to the public, as CHP continues their investigation on the incident.
