Ruben Romo Arrested after Head-On Crash near Commerce Avenue

ATWATER, CA (September 22, 2018) – Two people were injured Saturday evening and a man was arrested following a DUI collision on Applegate Road. The identities of the victims were not immediately released.

According to the Atwater Police Department, the incident took place at about 7:24 PM near Commerce Avenue. A southbound vehicle, driven by 45-year-old Ruben Romo of Atwater, crossed over into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2017 Honda CRV.

The driver and a passenger inside the CRV both sustained minor injuries and were transported to Emmanuel Medical Center in Turlock for treatment and medical evaluation.

Meanwhile, Romo was booked into Merced County jail on suspicion of felony driving while intoxicated with alcohol. As per jail records, the DUI driver’s bail has been set at $200,103. Additional information will be provided following the conclusion of the investigation.
