Officers Hospitalized after Crash on Interstate 20 in Fort Worth
Fort Worth, TX (February 2, 2023) – Thursday morning, 2 Fort Worth police officers sustained injuries in a crash on Interstate 20.
The crash in Fort Worth happened on February 2.
Police said the collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-20, when they stopped to check on the vehicles, the patrol car was hit by the trailer of the jack-knifing 18-wheeler.
Only one officer was inside the vehicle at the time. With the assistance of the second officer, he exited the vehicle and managed to avoid being struck by a second large rig.
So to avoid being struck by a third 18-wheeler, the two had to go to the median.
The second cop slipped on the ice and damaged his ankle.
Both cops were sent to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Further investigation to determine the cause of the crash is ongoing.
