2 Drivers Injured in Rollover Crash on 15 Freeway and Valley Parkway [Escondido, CA]

2 Hospitalized after Escondido Car Accident on 15 Freeway

ESCONDIDO, CA (September 7, 2020) – Friday morning, two drivers suffered serious injuries in a rollover crash on 15 Freeway.

According to reports, at 10:45 a.m., a 52-year-old Escondido woman drove a white Lexus east on Valley Parkway. As she entered the left turn lane for the on-ramp to 15 Freeway North, a 46-year-old Vista man driving a speeding black Merceded-Benz traveled west on Valley Parkway.

The Escondido Police officers saw the accident.

Due to the crash, the authorities shut down all westbound lanes. Meanwhile, the Mercedes driver moved into the right lane to pass the stopped vehicles while speeding. Then, he tried to continue west on Valley Parkway. However, he lost control of his vehicle, drove across the center median, and broadsided the Lexus. Then, the Mercedes overturned multiple times before it landed on its side.

Afterward, the two drivers were stuck inside their vehicles. Meanwhile, the Mercedes was engulfed with fire. Upon the arrival of the officers, they put off the flames with fire extinguishers. The Escondido Fire crews then extricated both drivers from the wreckage.

Then, responders took both drivers to Palomar Medical Center with serious injuries.

The authorities continue to investigate the rollover crash on 15 Freeway.
