Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 in Santa Rosa Left 7 Victims Injured, 1 Kid Airlifted to Hospital

 
Sonoma County, CA (May 1, 2020)– An incident of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 101 happened on Thursday morning. The collision left both drivers and 5 children injured and hospitalized.
 
The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred on April 30 at about 9:45 a.m.
 
The two-vehicle crash involved a Ford Expedition that was supposed to be entering the highway. Just when the Ford touches the on-ramp lines, a Goodwill trailer hit and collided with the SUV.
 
According to the report, the truck was trying to make space for another oncoming vehicle when the driver suddenly lost control. Thus, colliding with the SUV and both vehicles ended up in the right of the highway.
 
The impact of the crash made the SUV overturned injuring the driver as well as the 5 minor passengers. In addition, the truck driver also sustained injuries from the collision police said.

Aftermath of Crash

 
Both the drivers and the 5 children were transported to the hospital for treatment. Furthermore, 1 girl around 8-10 years old was airlifted to Oakland Children’s Hospital and another 2 were flown to UC Davis Hospital.
 
Moreover, The River Road exit to the highway was closed off for a brief time during clean-up and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
 
The investigation remains on-going and Santa Rosa CHP office is asking for anyone who might have helpful information.
