2 Killed in National City Accident on 805 Freeway near Plaza Boulevard

NATIONAL CITY, CA (October 19, 2021) – Sunday night, two people died in a pedestrian crash on the 805 Freeway near Plaza Boulevard.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Salvador Castro, the incident happened at around 8:25 p.m. Moreover, it occurred on northbound 805 Freeway south of Plaza Boulevard.

Reports revealed that the accident started when a Toyota XA collided with a Honda Civic. The male and female occupants of the Toyota fled the scene on foot. Then, they jumped over the center median wall and attempted to cross the southbound freeway lanes.

However, officers confirmed the Chevrolet Silverado struck the woman. Meanwhile, a Mazda sedan hit the man. Paramedics pronounced both patients dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the events leading to the crash remain under investigation.
