2 People Dead After 2-Vehicle Crash on State Route 84 in Stanfield

Stanfield, AZ (February 14, 2024) – On Monday, two people died in a 2-vehicle crash on State Route 84.

Reportedly, the incident happened at 6:58 a.m. 

While traveling east on State Route 84 at milepost 162, a passenger vehicle tried to turn onto northbound Smith Road and cut in front of another passenger vehicle coming from the west on State Route 84.

The two vehicles collided, causing one to veer off the road to the right and tumble 25 feet into a ditch, landing on its roof. 

Emergency services transported the driver of this vehicle to a Chandler hospital, while the passenger died at the scene. 

The other vehicle, after turning, rotated counterclockwise and stopped on the right shoulder of the eastbound lane, where its driver was declared dead at the scene. 

The passenger was airlifted to a Chandler hospital.

Further investigation is ongoing.
