2 Dead, 6 Hospitalized Head-on Crash on Gilman Springs Road in San Jacinto
SAN JACINTO, CA (August 19, 2019) — Two people died and six others were hurt after a head-on crash in San Jacinto on Sunday, August 18.
According to the California Highway Patrol and Riverside County Fire Department, the head-on accident happened on Gilman Springs Road near Highway 79. It occurred at around 5:55 a.m., the Riverside County Fire Department said.
Initial CHP reports show that a van and a Kia crashed head-on and blocked all the traffic lanes. The coroner responded to the crash site a short time later.
Firefighters arrived at the area and confirmed two victims died at the scene, according to a fire report. Two victims sustained major injuries and four patients had minor to moderate injuries. Paramedics transported all injured patients to area hospitals.
Officials shut down the roadway for around three hours, reports stated.
The CHP is still investigating the incident.
