Stanislaus County, CA (July 30, 2024) – On Saturday, two children sustained injuries in a watercraft hit-and-run crash at Area W.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office reported on Monday that a hit-and-run crash involving a personal watercraft hospitalized two children over the weekend. 

The crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Area W, near the Bay View Boat Ramp. 

Following the incident, both children, aged 9 and 11, were taken to the hospital with abrasions on their legs and fractures in their eye sockets.

Medical staff kept them in the hospital for a day before releasing them. 

Authorities arrested the operator of the watercraft on felony hit-and-run charges but did not disclose their identity. 

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the incident.
