Five Injured after Palmdale Alleged DUI Crash on 50th Street
PALMDALE, CA (November 5, 2019) – Five people, including two children, were hurt in an alleged DUI Crash on 50th Street on Sunday, November 3.
According to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials, the accident happened just before 6:30 p.m. along 50th Street, near Palmdale Boulevard.
Witnesses said that a red Honda Civic had been heading southbound. It illegally passed other vehicles by crossing into opposing traffic, said Deputy Hawkins of the sheriff’s Palmdale Station. The Civic was occupied by two adults, including the driver, and two children.
It is on one of those maneuvers that the driver crashed head-on into a Jeep Cherokee occupied by a single woman, according to the deputy.
Paramedics rushed the children to a hospital by helicopter for treatment, Hawkins stated. They brought the two adults to hospitals by ambulance. Authorities believe that all patients will survive.
The driver of the civic appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. This is based on the initial investigation with a breathalyzer, said Hawkins.
The identity of the suspect was not available Sunday night.
Any person with information about the incident can reach the sheriff’s Palmdale Station at 661-272-2400.
