Frightening 2-Car Collision on Highway 165 Kills Jennifer Lourenco [Turlock, CA]

Turlock, CA (December 16, 2024) On Sunday morning, Jennifer Lourenco, a 16-year-old girl and 2 others lost their lives in a horrific 2-car collision on Highway 165.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the tragic incident happened around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection with Greenway Avenue.

Reports say that the devastating crash at the intersection of Highway 165 and Greenway Avenue in Turlock on Sunday morning left four people dead, including a 16-year-old girl and a local teacher, and injured two others.

Authorities say that the driver of a 2008 Infiniti sedan, identified as a 22-year-old Modesto man, was traveling northbound at high speed when he collided with a Jeep entering the intersection. The Infiniti struck the Jeep on its left side.

The Infiniti driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The Jeep’s driver, a 54-year-old Turlock man, and his 45-year-old front passenger also died at the scene. A 16-year-old girl in the Jeep was transported to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Two additional passengers in the Jeep, a 19-year-old and a 14-year-old, were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.

The Ceres Unified School District identified one of the victims as Lourenco, a teacher at Sinclear Elementary School and the 2023-24 Teacher of the Year. The district described her as “a gifted and dedicated educator” and expressed condolences to her family, who were also involved in the crash.

The CHP is investigating the crash and has not determined if alcohol or drugs were factors. Officials confirmed that everyone in the Jeep had been wearing seatbelts.
