2 in Custody in Spanaway Traffic Accident on 180th Street East and Pacific Avenue South
SPANAWAY, CA (July 14, 2022) – Tuesday, authorities arrested two people after a crash on 180th Street East and Pacific Avenue South.
According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, the incident started at around 8:00 a.m. Authorities responded to a report of two people who were passed out inside a running car at a Starbucks Parking lot at 210 166th Street South.
When officers arrived, they found two people passed out with drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Reports revealed that when the officers woke the suspects and asked for their information, the female driver of the vehicle reversed and struck the patrol vehicle. Then, the vehicle fled the scene southbound onto Pacific Avenue.
Eventually, deputies managed to locate the vehicle after it crashed at 180th Street East and Pacific Avenue South.

Moreover, authorities arrested the male passenger who attempted to flee the scene on foot. Meanwhile, responders took the 24-year-old female driver to a hospital with unknown injuries.
Also, another driver sustained serious injuries in the crash.
Furthermore, the driver will be facing charges for first-degree assault, felony hit and run, vehicular assault, DUI, eluding a police vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, second-degree animal cruelty, and several other drug-related offenses.
Then, authorities booked the 32-year-old male passenger for first-degree assault, felony hit and run, vehicular assault, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of drug paraphernalia at the Pierce County Jail.
Meanwhile, the incident remained under investigation.
