2 Hospitalized after Semi Truck Overturns near Ford Cady Road
NEWBERRY SPRINGS, CA (May 18, 2019) – Two people were airlifted Saturday morning, following a rollover crash on 40 Freeway.
Authorities received dispatch calls about the accident around 4:43 p.m. First responders arrived on the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Ford Cady Road shortly after.
According to reports, a semi-truck carrying 50 gallon drums of salt had overturned on the center divider for unknown reasons. Two occupants, a driver and a passenger, were badly injured due to the impact.
The driver was found outside of the vehicle upon officers arrival. The passenger was
found trapped, and sustained a possible broken back as a result.
Both patients were airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Their current condition is unknown at this time.
It is also currently unknown if speed or intoxication has played a role in the crash.
