Jesus Lopez Moreno Arrested after DUI Crash near Mount Hermon Road
SCOTTS VALLEY, CA (October 14, 2018) – A man was injured late Sunday evening following a wrong-way crash on Highway 17. The identity of the 19-year-old victim was not disclosed to the public at this time.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 11:44 PM near Mount Hermon Road. A 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 47-year-old Jesus Lopez Moreno of Redwood City, was heading north in the southbound lanes. There, it collided with a 2014 Mazda sedan.
The Mazda driver and Moreno both suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash. However, it is unknown whether or not they were hospitalized for treatment or medical evaluation. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
Moreno was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail. An investigation is underway to identify other possible contributing factors in the collision. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
