Motorcyclist Dies after Crashing into Wooden Pole on Highway 78 in Julian
JULIAN, CA (October 9, 2019) – A 19-year-old Julian man was killed in a motorcycle crash late Wednesday afternoon on Highway 78.
The crash happened around 5:20 p.m., just west of Pine Hills Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2007 Yamaha R6 motorcycle was traveling westbound on the highway. For unknown reasons, it lost control in a curve, drifted off the roadway and struck a wooden pole.
The rider suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. Arriving paramedics performed life-saving efforts on him before ground ambulance transported him to Santa Ysabel.
From there, the teen was airlifted to a local hospital, but died during the flight.
No identifying information is being released at this time. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
