19-Year-Old Driver Injured in Fatal Crash near SR-76
North County, CA (October 14, 2022) On Thursday morning, a rear-end collision on Interstate 15 killed an 18-year-old Baldwin Park resident.
Reports say that the fatal crash happened at about 7:15 a.m. near the Lilac Road Bridge, south of state Route 76.
CHP say that a Honda Civic veered off the road and collided into the back of a broken down semi-truck. The semi-trailer stopped on the right shoulder of south Interstate 15.
The collision killed the passenger of the sedan, while the 19-year-old driver suffered life-threatening injuries. Officials airlifted the driver to a hospital.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old truck driver did not suffer injuries due to the crash.
Authorities are investigating the probable cause of the fatal crash near SR-76. Officials say that it is not clear if whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.
