Woman Dead after Barstow Semi-Truck Crash on 15 Freeway
BARSTOW, CA (November 6, 2019) – An 18-year-old Apple Valley woman died after a semi-truck crash on 15 Freeway on Monday, November 4.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened when the vehicle she drove crashed with a semi-truck on northbound 15 Freeway south of Lenwood Road.
The crash occurred around 11:15 p.m. when the 2001 Pontiac Bonneville the unidentified woman drove drifted toward the right shoulder of the road. After that, the Pontiac then left the road into the open desert before the driver turned left by trying to re-enter the roadway, CHP said.
The vehicle then struck a metal guardrail on the right shoulder. Then it entered the number two lane where a 2017 Freightliner was unable to avoid the incident and crashed with the Pontiac.
The woman sustained major injuries and later died at Barstow Community Hospital. The Freightliner’s driver was not hurt.
The accident is under investigation by the CHP, Barstow Area.
