Four Cars Involved in Collision near 605 Freeway
LONG BEACH, CA (March 13, 2019) – At least 18 people were injured in a multi-car crash on northbound 405 Freeway, Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at 9:00 AM. Based on an initial report, an initial crash between a Chevrolet Suburban and a Toyota Tundra occurred just south of 605 Freeway.
Soon after, a second accident happened between two vans and a Ford F350. As a result, one of the cars made an unsafe lane change, triggering the chain-reaction collision.
The paramedics were requested for needed medical attention. They confirmed that among the 18 victims, two were considered trauma patients and taken to nearby hospitals. In addition, 16 other people involved in the accident suffered unknown injuries.
A SigAlert was issued for about an hour for the northbound lanes. Soon after, the lanes were open again. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation. Additional information will be disclosed to the public once it becomes available.
