17-Year-Old Passenger Injured in Fatal Crash on Highway 101 and Victoria Avenue [Ventura, CA]

Nelson Rivas Arrested for Fatal Ventura Accident on Highway 101, Passenger Hospitalized

 
VENTURA, CA (June 21, 2021) – Sunday morning, one teen was killed and another suffered injuries in a fatal crash on Highway 101 and Victoria Avenue.
 
The deadly Ventura accident occurred at about 8:15 a.m. on southbound Highway 101 and Victoria Avenue.
 
When the crews arrived at the scene, they located two vehicles with major damage on the road. One vehicle landed on its roof, with a person trapped inside.
 
According to reports, a Nissan Armada SUV slowed down due to wreckage from a previous accident on the highway.
 
However, a white older-model Toyota van then rear-ended the SUV. As a result, the Armada overturned and landed on its roof.
 
Thus, fire crews used the Jaws of Life to free the male occupant from the Toyota van. Afterward, an ambulance transported him to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
 
Also, responders took the Armada’s female driver to Ventura County Medical Center with moderate injuries.
 
At this time, the authorities revealed that one female passenger, 16-year-old Chloe Arbuckle of Ventura, died in the accident.
 
The other female passenger, a 17-year-old, suffered injuries of an unknown extent, and was taken to the hospital.
 
Furthermore, the crash led to the closure of all southbound lanes. However, the authorities soon managed the traffic through on the far left lane. Then, by 9:30 a.m., all southbound lanes have reopened.
 
Meanwhile, CHP says the other driver, Nelson Rivas, 22, was arrested for DUI.
 
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continue to investigate the fatal Ventura crash.
