Teenage Girl Dead after Crescent City Car Accident
CRESCENT CITY, CA (May 20, 2019) — A 17-year-old Klamath girl was killed in a car accident on Highway 101 on Friday, May 17.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 4 p.m., a vehicle struck a tree while traveling northbound on Highway 101, just south of Crescent City. After that, it went down a 40-foot embankment. The female was the driver of the vehicle.
Reports from CHP stated that they sent a helicopter to the scene. The passengers were also reportedly injured, however, the extent of their injuries is not yet known at this time. Paramedics airlifted at least one person to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
The incident affected the traffic flow, but officers let cars through at intervals.
What led to the crash is still under the investigation of the authorities.
