1 Dead in Bellingham Pedestrian Accident
BELLINGHAM, WA (March 20, 2019) – A 17-year-old boy died while walking along 5 Freeway after a car struck him on March 19.
According to troopers, before 12:30 p.m., the boy walked along the southbound lanes of the freeway near Northwest Avenue. A few moments later, a car hit him. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene. The driver fled the area and their identity is unknown at this time.
Authorities report that the victim may have tried to kill himself intentionally. However, the driver will still face charges for fleeing the scene.
Information concerning the driver and his vehicle remains unreleased as of this time.
