Buchanan High School Student Killed in Fowler Avenue Collision
Fresno County, CA (August 10, 2024) – 16-year-old Sandro Lazo was killed in a bicycle accident on Fowler Avenue Thursday.
Troopers said Lazo was riding a westbound bicycle west Perrin Road and approached the stop sign. He turned southbound onto Fowler Avenue in front of an oncoming vehicle that did not have a stop sign.
As a result, the bicycle and the other vehicle collided head-on.
The bicyclist was wearing a helmet when the accident happened. He was taken to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries while the involved driver remained at the crash scene.
The accident report noted Sandro Lazo was a Buchanan High School student.
“Our hearts go out to Sandro’s family,” Buchanan High School’s principal Omar Hemaidan stated “Our incredible mental health team will be available when students return to school to come alongside and support those who are struggling in the aftermath of this tragedy.”
