Estrellita High School Student Hospitalized in Ayers Lane Crash
Galt, CA (March 16, 2022) – On Monday, 16-year-old Angel Renteria, a sophomore from Estrellita High School, incurred injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Ayers Lane.
The police say Renteria was walking her pit bull Bubba when a vehicle struck her. The driver left her laying on the roadway after the accident.
An ambulance rushed the victim to Kaiser South Sacramento Medical Center where she remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit with her mother by her side.
“Significant head trauma and life support. And induced coma,” says Galt Police Chief Brian Kalinowski.
Officers said Renteria’s dog did not sustain injuries in the accident.
“While we were investigating the incident, a suspected drunk driver, who was confirmed to be a drunk driver, struck one of our patrol vehicles,” officer Kalinowski said.
The CHP arrested that driver and they are investigating if the driver is the same one who struck Renteria.
“We’re still trying to piece it all together,” Kalinowski added.
Moreover, Kalinowski also said that officers believe there was at least one witness to this incident. The authorities are looking forward to questioning that witness.
“We continue to hope and pray for the family. We grieve with the family in this incident,” Kalinowski said.

When driving, better to scan the road 1/2 mile to a full mile ahead in order to look out or recognize potential hazards in time. Our bodies weren’t designed to travel at 50mph. We were designed for speeds of less than 10mph. Thus, you need to learn to consciously break that natural instinct and focus farther ahead.
Dealing With Hit-and-Run Collisions
Moreover, driving is essential for many in order to move about in their lives, however, it is one of the most dangerous activities we do every day. As often these accidents happen, many people do not know what follows in the event of a car accident.
