1 Dead in South Los Angeles Auto Accident on West 54th Street in Vermont Square
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (November 28, 2022) – Sunday morning, a 15-year-old boy died in a fiery crash on West 54th Street in Vermont Square.
The incident happened around 4:00 a.m. in the 1300 block of West 54th Street in Vermont Square.
According to reports, an SUV crashed into a South Los Angeles liquor store and erupted in flames.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle and two passengers managed to escape from the wreckage.
Officers confirmed that the fire spread from the vehicle into the single-story building, making its way into the attic. Thus, thirty-four firefighters responded and put off the blaze in just under 30 minutes. Then, they discovered the teen passenger’s body inside SUV.
Moreover, responders treated the survivors for unspecified injuries.
According to LAPD investigators, the driver headed north on 54th Street and tried to make a turn when the SUV veered into the structure.
At this time, the authorities haven’t made any arrests or citations.
