15-Year-Old Boy Hurt in Carmichael Bicycle Accident

CARMICHAEL, CA (April 30, 2019) – A 15-year-old boy suffered injuries in a bicycle and car collision on Fair Oaks Boulevard on April 27.

Officers received reports about the accident around 8:45 p.m. According to reports, the boy rode his bicycle east across Fair Oaks Boulevard, when a northbound Volkswagen Jetta struck him.

According to investigators, the boy crossed a marked crosswalk with a green light when the crash happened. Meanwhile, 24-year-old James Salas did not stop at a red light, consequently striking the biker.

The unidentified boy was also not wearing a helmet and had no visible reflective safety clothing.

Meanwhile, Salas remained at the scene and helped with officers. Authorities ruled out drugs or alcohol as a factor in the collision. Police did not press any charges or arrested Salas.

The collision still currently remains under investigation. Authorities encourage anyone who has information to contact 916-348-2300.
