Teenge Bicyclist Hospitalized after Struck by Car near West El Norte Parkway
ESCONDIDO, CA (September 7, 2018) – A 14-year-old boy was critically injured late Friday evening in a bicycle crash on Central City Parkway. His name and place of residence was not immediately disclosed
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place at approximately 10:49 PM near the intersection of West El Norte Parkway.
Lt. Mike Kearney with the Escondido Police Department stated that the boy was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a black Infinity at the corner of the street. The boy reportedly had no lighting equipment or safety gear at the time of the collision. Due to the impact of the collision, the teenager was pinned under the vehicle and had to be rescued by responding firefighters.
An air ambulance transported the young victim to the Children’s Hospital with multiple injuries, including life-threatening burns from the underside of the vehicle.
It was unclear if the motorist, a 28-year-old resident of Escondido, was arrested or cited. Escondido Police asked anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them by calling (760) 839-4966.
