Teen Girl Hospitalized after Struck by Vehicle near Hosking Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 22, 2018) – A teenage girl was hospitalized Wednesday morning following a pedestrian accident on Akers Road.
According to Bakersfield Police officials, the incident took place shortly after 8:00 AM in the 8300 block of Akers Road, near Hosking Avenue. A 13-year-old girl was outside of a crosswalk when she ran across the road and was struck by a vehicle.
The victim sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. Meanwhile, the woman driving the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Alcohol, drugs, and speed were ruled out as possible contributing factors. Authorities continue to investigate, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Bakersfield Police by calling (661) 327-7111. No further information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
